Munch

We hold our regular munches on the second Tuesday evening of each month, starting at 7:30 pm.

Spring is here, and it’s time for a few spring cleaning type changes.

The next munch is tomorrow week, Tuesday September 8th.

Please note – the munch venue has CHANGED!

Robbies Elmwood

We are trialling a new venue, Robbies Elmwood, at 1 Normans Rd.  This is in behind the shopping centre, by the railway crossing on Wairakei Rd/Normans Rd/Strowan Rd intersection.

Here’s a map link:-

Some of you may have been there in the past.  Please note, Robbies is under new ownership, and they are very keen to have groups, such as ours, use their private room, and have been completely positive in our dealings with them.

The private room is at the very back of the restaurant, and has folding doors which we can use for the ‘business’ part of the munch if required.  Tuesday nights there are relatively slow nights for them.  We’ll not have the place to ourselves, but we will also not be drowned out by other diners, and the venue is warm, clean and tidy.

We will have a ‘Reserved for UB’ sign on the private room doors, so you’ll know where to go.

Food at a munch!  How radical!

We have arranged to start the munch early, for those that wish to have a meal before the munch proper.  This will consist of a choice of a la carte or you can check out the set menu, in the $15 or so price range.  We’re waiting on a couple of sample menus at this point, and will advise what it is closer to time, but they’ll have a set main (maybe two choices) and a dessert.  If you wish to go with the set menu, please let us know by Monday evening, so we can advise Robbies of expected numbers.

Email steve@bdsm.gen.nz if you wish to go with the set menu option.

There are also various snack options, tea and coffee, as well as bar service.

Dinner Start:  6:30 pm for set menu or a la carte

Munch Start:  7:30 pm

Venue closes: 11:00 pm

If you arrive a little late and the folding doors are closed, don’t be shy, we don’t bite!

Bus Info

There are a number of suitable buses that will get you to the new venue.

#17 Brynwyr/Barrington bus goes right past.

Dress code - Munch venues are generally a public place, so you’ll not find everyone turning up dressed for a party.  Rather, we could be seen by those not in the know as being any group or club, perhaps just with a preference for black clothing.

Donation - We collect a gold coin donation at the munch towards group funds.  It helps to pay for such things as web sites, party costs, advertising, new play equipment, etc.

Structure - We generally start with a general gossip, and then prior to any official business we do a round of introductions.  This is generally as simple as just stating your scene name.  We then go through anything that needs formal discussion or decisions, such as dates and topics for parties, workshops etc.  The actual detailed organizing of these things is generally done by smaller groups, so we don’t get too bogged down in details.  After the business is over, we generally have another socializing session.
